Web Standards Solutions: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability

Graphic: Web Standards Solutions: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability

Dan Cederholm

Review: Dan Cederholm [simplebits.com] writes Web Standards Solutions very well. He talks about the theory and the practicalities equally.

"WSS" is a quick, easy read. It's broken into two parts, the first half of the book analyzes general markup and style best practices, while the second half takes these practices and others and applies them to a real site, his own. It provides a common sense approach to designing with web standards. Dan has a common sense approach to designing with web standards, his book would make a good comapnion to Zeldmans "Designing with Web Standards". Dan's book will instruct you on the "how", Zeldman's on the "why".

This isn't a "how to" design book. Dan discusses how to apply design, not how to design in the first place. If you're only interested in visuals then "WSS" may not be for you, but if you are interested in applying visuals to properly structured and well-built sites using methods that allow for maximum accessibility and save you time, then you need this book.

There are plenty of great reasons to buy Dan's Book, and it definitley deserves aplace on any CSS Designers' bookshelf!
